[00:00:00] Joey Moralez: What's up, y'all? It's your host, Joey Moralez. I really appreciate you listening to this podcast! It's the one-year anniversary of Tethered! Check out these clips from episodes this past year!

[00:00:24] Emma Schilling: Because Christ is the center of our life. And so just, um, so I think that's like kind of one way to stay like tethered to Jesus, in regards to like a local church.

[00:00:33] Bert Suluvale: Wherever we start with text, we must end with Christ in our preaching.

[00:00:38] Emma Schilling: Um, kind of like what you were talking about with the, the community, 'cause, um, it's really important to have people who go to your church, who are willing to build you up and willing to come alongside of you.

[00:00:49] Joey Moralez: Jesus, Yahweh, the Great I AM. I AM, Himself in the flesh, for our sake became sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.

[00:01:02] Alfredo Ruiz de Chavez: Look to Jesus throughout your day. Looking to God, looking to Jesus!

[00:01:07] Grace Anderson: I would say abiding in Christ is, um, it is my only lifeline!

[00:01:23] Jacob Ward: So in order to properly abide, you guys need to dwell deep, live in the Scriptures, so you can know God's will, which is abiding, obeying.

[00:01:36] Joey Moralez: Extra, extra, read all about it! To call attention to the fact that something big has happened!

[00:01:44] Joey Moralez: If you're in Christ, meaning if you belong to Jesus, if you confess Him as Lord, if you have declared Him to be your Lord and Savior. If you love Him, truly you matter to your church and God! You matter!

[00:02:06] Martin Maharas: And so, you express worship to God, express it with all your heart. They need to see you worshiping God so that they can see that God is worth worshiping!

[00:02:22] William Akoo: And one thing that I'll urge for you guys, and girls, but specifically to the guys, when it comes to finding out the person that you want to end up being with, the person that you want to end up dating, man, look at Christ first. In the same way my wife is telling me, has been saying, focus on your relationship with Jesus before you start, like, looking at a relationship with somebody else.

[00:02:45] Martin Maharas: A thought towards the one who may feel himself drifting, you know, who may feel himself like, "Oh, you know, I really need to be more tethered to the Lord. I'm kind of drifting away from Him." You know, my, my, my encouragement for you today would be, sing a new song to the Lord!

[00:03:02] Joey Moralez: Jesus, what a Savior! He wants to draw near to you. Will you draw near to Him?

[00:03:21] Lance Spencer: If we are not connected to the vine daily, it's going to be about me. I mean, I would just say that that's such a reflection for me on total depravity and just the sinful nature of man. It's like, it is a daily discipline to be connected to the vine and to say, "God, I am completely overwhelmed by this servant leadership thing. I am completely overwhelmed by this position. I need your help." And if that's not a daily prayer, we're in trouble. If you're not connected to the Source, you're gonna go somewhere else. You're gonna crumble!

[00:04:02] Joey Moralez: Bert had to remind me as I was meeting with him and he shared this quote with me. He just simply said, "just

[00:04:09] Alfredo Ruiz de Chavez: abide."

[00:04:10] Joey Moralez: Abide. Just abide. Just, stay tethered!

[00:04:20] Andrea Woodward: Discipleship is just following Christ's lead. He was, He was a disciple and really still is to us through His word. And we just get to follow Christ and leading others to do the same.

[00:04:37] Joe Woodward: It's God's work, you know. We don't get to pick what our mission is as we are abiding in Christ. It is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us. It's continuing on. of the Holy Spirit in Christ when He walked the earth. We, today, are the hands and feet of Jesus.

[00:04:55] Nic Peerson: Yeah, I'd like to say if we really understood, like, how much God really loves us, we would live completely differently.

[00:05:03] Joey Moralez: How are you all doing?

[00:05:05] College Students: Awesome. Good. Not too bad. How are you doing, Joey?

[00:05:10] Joey Moralez: I am better than I deserve!

[00:05:19] Zakk Gatoloai: We have to be spiritually, uh, nourished, you know? And for us, you know, wicked, janky people, you know, that we have issues and we have problems, and we're sinners. But you have to remember, you know, the God that we know.

[00:05:37] Joey Moralez: Here's what continues to blow my mind: the very God that created everything we came to, you know, we know to exist, came down to earth to dwell among us. And He died a sinner's death on a Roman cross, and rose again from the grave to defeat Satan, sin, and death, and came to give all of us eternal life.

[00:06:00] Benjamin Kirtley: "Where death is your victory? Where death is your sting? The power of sin is the Law. The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the Law, but thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!"

[00:06:17] Josh Johns: Having deep relationships where I'm known and I know others in the context of Christian community completely transformed the way I think, um, the way I understand my relationship to others, to, to our Creator.

[00:06:35] Erin Akoo: Just having a heart check of staying tethered to your own relationship with Jesus is the, ultimately the most important thing, like no matter where you are in your walk, if you're If you're single, you're dating, or you're married, like staying tethered to Jesus will make the relationships around you healthier.

[00:06:53] Noah Turner: Why Christians, or I guess especially why college students should look into the Bible because, you know, the culture makes a lot of false promises to people, you know, promises for happiness, promises for success, and you know, college is full of people trying to draw you every which way.

[00:07:08] Joey Moralez: Looking to Jesus!
